Equal Justice Works Fellow
Ashleigh Pelto (she/her) is the 2020 Equal Justice Works Fellow in the Legal Advocacy Program. Her project is dedicated to investigating the intersection between domestic violence and human trafficking, implementing trafficking screening and services into DOVE's existing service capacities, and strengthening DOVE's referral network across the South Shore. While in law school, Ashleigh served as a student attorney in the University of Michigan's Human Trafficking Clinic. She also spent her final year of law school as a Douglass Fellow for the Human Trafficking Institute. In law school, she served as Chair of the law student organization Human Rights Advocates and Article Editor on the Michigan Journal of Gender & Law. Prior to law school, she volunteered with The Manasseh Project, a safe house for teenage survivors of sex trafficking, as well as her undergraduate university's chapter of International Justice Mission.
