Domestic violence or partner abuse in the home affects the entire family system and children often feel that impact. The Children’s Program at DOVE provides long-term therapeutic counseling for ages 2-18 utilizing a variety of modalities including: play, parent-child, attachment-focused, story-telling, and traditional one on one counseling.
The Children’s Program works closely across DOVE’s various programs and with external child focused systems such as schools, the Department of Children and Families and other therapeutic supports. Support groups are offered intermittently throughout the year.
Short-term parent support is also available to support survivors in navigating challenges or concerns that may include:
parenting in the context of partner violence
discipline, and setting routines
Parents interested in support for their children are encouraged to receive services through our Individual Counseling & Advocacy Services.
In addition, DOVE offers child & domestic violence specific consultation, training, and workshops to those in fields serving youth.
All services are free and confidential.
