Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) started as a "Day of Unity" in 1981 to connect advocates and survivors across the country who were working to end domestic and intimate partner violence. Eventually recognition started building on local, state, and nationwide levels.

In October 1987, the first DVAM was celebrated and is now an important month for all service organizations across the country. DOVE is so excited to connect with our community in raising awareness throughout the month. We have so much planned and there are so many ways
to get involved!
