  • Ashlee Carter, Ph.D.

    Ashlee Carter, Ph.D. Board Clerk Interim Associate Dean of Students and Deputy Title IX Coordinator, University of Massachusetts Boston Ashlee Carter (she/her), Ph.D. currently serves as the Interim Associate Dean of Students and Deputy Title IX Coordinator at University of Massachusetts Boston. Throughout her career in higher education, she has garnered an array of experience, in areas such as student support services, alcohol and other drug education and prevention, student conduct, sexual misconduct, and student health and wellness. For many years, she has worked within the area of Title IX, ensuring compliance with federal and state statutes, providing prevention and educational measures to the campus community, and investigating allegations of sex or gender-based discrimination and harassment. Ashlee earned a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University, an MS in Higher Education Administration from Drexel University, and a BA in Public Relations from the University of Hartford. She has presented her dissertation research; Reducing Sexual Victimization on College Campuses: The Impact of a College-Level Sex Education Course at the National Sexual Health Conference, and internationally at the 24th Congress of the World Association of Sexual Health. Ashlee’s passion for sexual and domestic violence advocacy, education, and prevention began during her time as an undergraduate student and has continued as her life has progressed personally and professionally. Previously, Ashlee volunteered as an advocate for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors with a non-profit organization in New Hampshire, where she is originally from, and is looking forward to continuing to support survivors by being a part of the Board of Directors at DOVE.     MAKE A DIFFERENCE SO MANY WAYS TO ENGAGE WITH DOVE! Host an Event A fundraising drive or event is a great way to bring together a group of people to support DOVE! CONTACT US Lunch & Learn Host a Lunch & Learn or other activity in your workplace or social setting! Participants come together for a three-hour event where they can eat lunch, have a DOVE staff person come speak about DOVE’s programs & put together personal care bags for survivors. CONTACT US Host a Friendraiser Host a get-together in your home or at a local restaurant and ask attendees to make a donation to DOVE. A DOVE staff will be available to present and answer questions about domestic violence and the work of the organization.     Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) 2023 Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) started as a "Day of Unity" in 1981 to connect advocates and survivors across the country who were working to end domestic and intimate partner violence. Eventually recognition started building on local, state, and nationwide levels. In October 1987, the first DVAM was celebrated and is now an important month for all service organizations across the country. DOVE is so excited to connect with our community in raising awareness throughout the month. We have so much planned and there are so many ways to get involved! Buy A DVAM Lawn Sign! We'll keep updating this next section of the website every day to correspond with our calendar! (Click on squares for more details) DOVE is honored to celebrate Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October. We hope you can join us in celebrating and raising awareness of this important issue. For just $45, you can have a beautifully designed lawn sign, with included metal frames, to show your support for DOVE and ending domestic and intimate partner violence in your community. All you need to do is use the payment form to purchase your lawn sign, then follow the instructions in your emailed receipt to coordinate pick-up (at our Community Office) or delivery (within 5 miles of our Community Office) on designated days.     Thank You for Supporting Harvesting Hope You raised funds to help us care for survivors so they can thrive; nurture advocates and their work; and plant seeds of change to end domestic and partner violence. We appreciate you and all the support you gave DOVE through Harvesting Hope! Thank you so much to every person who came to the event, participated in the silent auction in person or virtually, donated to the event and in turn, helped fund our programs and services!   • Support Groups | DOVE

    Support Groups All services, including support groups, are free and confidential. To join a support group please call our intake line: 617-770-4065 ext. 300 DOVE’s support groups are 8-weeks long and focused on providing attendees with education around domestic violence while also processing trauma and getting support from others. Each week the group will talk about a topic and gain skills and new understandings. The sessions' themes are as followed: ​ Session 1: Introduction and Types of Abuse Session 2: The Cycle of Violence Session 3: Impact of Domestic Violence on our Bodies Session 4: Safety Planning Session 5: Warning Signs Session 6: Healthy Relationships Session 7: Boundaries and Self-Esteem Session 8: Coping Skills and Self-Care DOVE offers groups at various times in the year specifically for: ​ LGBTQIA+ survivors Parents Chinese survivors For more information on groups at DOVE, please call our intake line: 617-770-4065 ext. 300
